Toddler keeps getting mysterious welts
My 2 year old has been getting itchy on his sides near his hips, and up on his back behind his neck for about 1-2 weeks now off and on. The neck part seems to have stopped, but the sides keep coming. One day he even got a patch on his inner thigh. They come on quick and I see nothing when he first itches. Then little bite looking welts appear in clusters, or twice it was in log shape. They aren't red, and they go away within 30 minutes or less. They seem to come on first thing in the morning which is making me now suspect bedbugs, but they've also sprung up occasionally in the day.
I still nurse him so we are both gluten, dairy, soy, corn, fish, and peanut free. We've done almond for a long time now with no issues, as well as chocolate and coffee for me. However, I've cut those things out as well just in case. :/ The two little boys and I share a bed and my other son doesn't have any issues. But I've had an itchy head for a while and it feels like little bites. Same around my neck. I made an appt. for our allergist but can't get in for a week. Should I go to the primary? My boys have a runny nose right now, and this is the 7th illness in our house since the start of the year. :/ I'm so hesitant to take anyone into the doctor unless it's dire because I'm concerned we will pick up another illness. We've already been in 4 times this year, and that's HUGE for us.

Following. Similar issue here but not itchy. Dealt with it before and they are back again. We never found a cause.

Did laundry detergent or exterior things seem to make a difference? I can't tell with food, and bed bugs doesn't make much sense since they aren't actual bites, and they are in covered areas.

Re: Toddler keeps getting mysterious welts
We never found any rhyme or reason. Nothing. And they were back for a few days and seem to be gone again. I did send pictures to his Dr at one point. Typical response of we can't see it well enough, bring him in i f you are worried. But I had no way of knowing if he would have welts at the time of his appt so I never took him in. Never figured it out.

Re: Toddler keeps getting mysterious welts
Sounds like it could be Symptomatic Dermographism. It is basically too many histamines in the skin that react to friction. I had it when I was younger and grew out of it. I could write words with my fingernail and welts would appear.
