Re: "Herb Fairies" children's curriculum of herbal medicine
I have the first book. There is one thing in there that bothers me enough not to want to buy the rest.
There's a place where some kids are trying to decide whether to trust a troll they don't know or not. They are trying to decide whether to go into the troll's house to help her with their herbs (they can't do it outside because they need a bathtub). One child who is trying to convince the others says something like "she'd be pretty without all the warts" trying to convince the others that she must be good because of her looks. Then they do go into her house. She turns out to be good but the ick factor is high enough in that scene that I don't want to order the other books. Going into a stranger's house is bad as is thinking that if you're pretty, you're good, and if you're ugly, you're bad.

Re: "Herb Fairies" children's curriculum of herbal medicine
Were there any other instances of questionable judgement in the series, or was it just in the first book? When I encounter things I disagree with in books I'm reading to the kids, I either edit them out, or read the whole thing and then pause for a 5-minute discussion about why the character made a poor decision and brainstorming with the kids about what the character could have chosen instead.

Re: "Herb Fairies" children's curriculum of herbal medicine
I didn't even notice the first example. That stuff just doesn't ping my radar in kid stories, unless it is central to the story and really obvious. In my mind, I read that story as someone needed help. The kids did what they needed to in order to provide that help.
And, I totally think talking about other choices in this situation could smooth over the rough spots. It has been a few years since I read them.

Are they only offered in e-book format? If anyone has some used print copies that they want to resell, I'd be interested.
Storyline aside, do the books offer good information about herbs? Was it memorable for the long term, or did your kids forget quickly?
