When you coddle an egg, you just barely cook it so that some of the bacteria are killed, but the egg still has most of the consistency of an uncooked egg. People do this sometimes when making Caesar salad if they are afraid to use a raw egg. You basically warm the egg up under the faucet, then submerge in boiling water for 1 minute.

How funny that you would mention caesar saled because I made that today for myself and that's what prompted me to make the orange julius with the egg. I thought to myself I eat raw egg in the dressing, why wouldn't I eat it in the drink????
