Re: How long does it take you to fall in LOVE...?
I fell hard for scrapbooking right away and the obsession lasted six years - until I had my first child, and never scrapped another page.
I'd always wanted to learn to sew but found it frustrating because I'm not particularly good at it and didn't get better quickly. I tried for a few months, then gave it up for over a year, then tried another month or two, then gave it up for several months. I finally persevered and made an actual garment for my daughter to wear, flaws and all... she tried it on, beamed at me with shining eyes, and said "Mommy make dress! Smidgie LOVE dress!" That was the beginning of my love affair with sewing. It's still ultra-frustrating for my perfectionist nature that my skill level remains so low... I'm just not at all a natural, and every garment is a struggle. But my daughter *loves* to wear what I make for her. What could be better?
