9.5 and *still* has attitude about chores

I'm totally not expecting her to be Snow White about it and tra-la-la happily around the cottage as she cleans. I'm really not bothered by how much she doesn't like them but by the way she expresses that frustration, yk?

So teach her how to better express them

I consider whether something is a violation of God's Law or not - that's the definition of sin I live by.

Everything else is where there is room for maturity and development and nurturing. Eventually they read God's Law and I want them to know what is within it because they have been taught it and lived it Everything else I want them to come to understand how it fits in.

Eventually they will understand that God instructs them to honor their father and mother - I want them to know how.

I want them to know how to "in their anger, sin not."

At the point it is their responsibility before God to do those things, I want them to know how

I find that keeping God's Law and House Rules separate is vital for this - God's Law is to be honored and not broken; Our Rules are to be learned and followed but do not carry the weight of God's Word on them.

And with both there is grace - there is my willingness to step in and bridge that gap following the example of God doing this for me to make it so that all of my failings at His Law are atoned for.

And I do think that habits are good - whether they be about doing assigned chores or working as a family team - the habit of a clean house is a great gift to our children. Bringing them into our work, valuing their efforts even when they aren't perfect - and encouraging them on to better skill to match their willingness.

my now 17year old son told me last week, "My boss told me I was a good worker, and I thought that is because of the chores you had us do."
One of those pump your fist, happy things to have come out of his mouth. He is not a big communicator.
But hang on momma, you are teaching good things.
