It's this coconut oil safe?

I opened a new jar of coconut oil and found the safety seal is bulging. Is that normal? I think I'm going to return it.

I'm thinking that it may be from the temp change, so I put it in the fridge. Last time I looked, it had gone down somewhat.

I'm sure I've seen them like that before but if it is not too much trouble I'd return it. To many $$ to risk it not being ok.

The first thing I noticed was that the oil is melted. I would think that it would expand when melted & need more room, hence the bulge.

I wouldn't return it. I think it's fine. If there's a bulge in something pressure canned, then it's dangerous. This is just a seal put on, without pressure, to show evidence of after-factory tampering. The container isn't air tight and doesn't need to be.
