Or getting my decorating groove back or whatever, but I think I've FINALLY stumbled upon the palette and overall "feel" I want our house to have. Of course, I've got questions so that's why I'm here.

So, after taking multiple decorating quizzes, looking at a gazillion books and pinterest photos, I've decided that I'm pretty much a beach boho eclectic cottage chic kinda girl. Heavy on the boho, which means I prefer brighter colors in the house as opposed to the very muted cottage chic colors.

I've decided that the beach is my happy place, so I need to bring it inside my house as much as possible. However, I don't want to do it with beachy-themed knick-knacks as much as with colors, plants, and casual, natural textures.

Here's where I need help.

If I want to use pops of color from the first palette throughout my rooms, would I paint the walls in a tint (color + white) of those colors?

Or...should I work on finding tinted tones (color + white + gray) of those colors for the walls?

Will a tone (color + gray added) work with the pure colors of the first palette?

I don't want only neutral walls through the house. I also have red-toned brick in the house that needs to play well with the other colors. All together it works like a campfire/bonfire on the beach.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Oh! I love your ideas and your palettes! I never thought about the warm colors of sunsets or bonfires mingling with the blues and sand and whites of the beach. And that hutch is gorgeous.

I'm not sure about tint vs tone.

i fail in all things decorating but i'll cheer you on in yours and i love that hutch!!

I'd use a slightly deeper version of the hutch's color on the wall. Between the slight depth and being a solid color, it will not blend much.

I feel like with those color schemes, you need to include quite a bit of shine. I particularly like nubby mercury glass for the random reflections it provides.

I generally dislike warm wall colors unless they are warmer aquas (like aqua mixed with a hint of dusty tan) or greens (slightly golden tan) so I personally avoid any kinds of oranges and most yellows when planning room color.

You may want to include ombre fabrics to give the feeling of lapping waves and sunsets.

I actually love the paint color now - that buttery color.makes a nice backdrop for colorful pieces like the hutch and makes it feel light and cottagey
