what is my kombucha doing?
I put my mother scoby away in "hibernation" for about 6-7 months (in a tightly closed jar filled with kombucha), and just recently pulled it out, it looked good, and smelled great... so I made a new batch with it.... it's been only 5 days but I just checked it (it smells good!!) the scoby is at the bottom of the jar (variation of normal, I know), but there is no "baby" scoby growing on the surface... there is, however, these tiny little disks about 1/2 wide floating on the surface, when I disturb them they start to float down, I scooped one out with a spoon and they are clear, gelatin-like blobs. Not hairy in any way (I was worried they were mold). They really look like teeny tiny scobies.
Anyone seen this before? here's a pic... they are impossible to photograph floating around in the jar... it is on the tip of the spoon (to the right)

Re: what is my kombucha doing?
Looks like a newly forming scoby to me. They can be clear at first.
