natural antifungal for face
My dh has some spots on his face that look like a cluster of pimples or a cold sore, but they are neither of those. He uses a CPAP machine, and after talking to the sleep clinician, he said these spots could be from not cleaning his face mask enough. I suggested that he put coconut oil on, and I think he either hasn't been doing it enough or keeping up with it, but no real change. Is there anything else we could try? Could he mix some TTO in the coconut oil?

Re: natural antifungal for face
Has he cleaned the mask with coconut oil or soaked it in vinegar? If it's causing a rash, there could be stuff growing on the mask as well. He could also try a mix of grapefruit seed extract and water -- five or ten drops mixed in a few tbs of water and rubbed on his face.

Re: natural antifungal for face
Thanks! No, I'm sure he hasn't. I think the guy suggested washing it with rubbing alcohol every week or something like that, but I doubt dh has done that. Good point that it will keep reinfecting!

Re: natural antifungal for face
I'd be cautious about using an oil on the mask itself, as oils can break down the kinds of rubbery materials used in these masks. I'd make him up a little tub 1 to 2% thieves' oil solution (no stronger) in coconut oil (for solidity convenience) or grapeseed oil (good for sensitive skin) and have him apply a small amount every morning when he's removed the mask.
IIRC, the mask can be wiped with weak vinegar?

Re: natural antifungal for face
I was going to suggest h2o2 on the face mask rather than oils due to the breakdown of the equipment.
My new goto oil for all things skin is frankincense. That might be helpful on the rash itself

Re: natural antifungal for face
I would be careful about getting it on mask but I find that Apricot oil is good for that
