How to cook jasmine rice
Ok I regularly cook white rice and brown rice in my rice cooker. I want to add some variety so I bought jasmine rice to try. But I am coming up with huge variances from different Google sources about the water to rice ratio. The bag says 1 to 1.5. Some google says 1 to 1. Others say 1 to 2.
What do you use?

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
I have also recently started using Jasmine. I actually like it when I do 1:2. I tried 1:1.5 like the bag says, and I had to add more because it didn't seem fully cooked. The 1:2 ratio makes it a little more sticky, but I guess I like it that way.

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
I use 1 c jasmine rice to 1.75 c water in my rice cooker. I like it fluffy, not sticky. If I double the rice, though, I don't exactly double the water, but go a little shy so that it doesn't get sticky.

No, on the stove top.
I think I'll try it ViolaMum's way and meet in the middle...fluffy but not sticky sounds right.

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
I use jasmine rice. I do the 1:1.5 ratio. I like it fluffy. It's not sticky or mushy. I can separate all the grains of rice. Love it!

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
I don't use a rice cooker, but I do 1:2 rice to water for sticky rice. Why would you not want sticky rice? Then you have all these little grains of rice all separate, instead of being able to ball it up and eat it with your hands. Side note: it's really delicious to substitute 1/4 or 1/2 of the water with pineapple juice.

Or use 1.25 cups of rice and a can of coconut milk.

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
I cook with it all the time but I don't have a rice cooker. I do it on the stove. I use 1:2 as well and I find it makes the best stir fry rice ever. Jasmine rice is our favorite along with the basmati rice.

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
California basmati is fine, but real grown-in-India basmati (especially the kind that's been aged) is truly delightful! It smells divine and tastes so good! It's more expensive, but worth the money, IMHO.

Re: How to cook jasmine rice
It is wonderful and actually I like Jasmine and Basmati over brown any day.
