I might be in trouble with my Husband.......
This is a convoluted decision I made on my own today without my husband's input.
We have 3 cats. 1 of the cats Maedchen has been in liver failure for a long time. The vet we go to is surprised she made it to Christmas. She is down to 2 pounds. She has become really frail this week. When we adopted her 11 yrs ago, she was already 3. Within 6 weeks of us adopting her, our beloved dog of 14years passed away from liver failure due to the food contamination from China. (which was unknown at that time.) My husband is disabled and pretty much confined to the house due to his extreme allergies. He is starting to also show some startling symptoms with his memory. We have slowly suggested we need a dog for him. He has opposed me in getting one now, but possibly the future. Our 38th anniversary is next week, so I went to look for dog to give him. I am still debating on just giving her to him next week or biting the bullet and telling him before hand. (The dog is on hold until Monday because she was abandoned. She will be spayed on Tuesday and I can get her on Wednesday if all goes to plan.) She is such a sweet calm puppy 2months old. When I was looking at her, everyone that came in looking for a dog kept coming over to fawn over her while she was in my lap. I knew I had to make up my mind right away or she would be gone. I debated calling and discussing her with him, but wavered. I asked the adoption fee and it was within the amount that I could spend without open discussion. LOL (see my mental warfare?) I just really felt the need to move on this and pay the fee. If we back out, it is a donation fee....... Here is the little heart breaker that I hope will make a good therapy dog for my husband. He will get the privilege of changing her 'prison' name. |

She's so sweet. Animals are good for so many things. I laughed at the price though. We just adopted a dog Sunday and the bulk cost wasn't the adoption fee. It was all the supplies and food.

Re: I might be in trouble with my Husband.......
Well, she will need more shots, so that is a cost and yes the set up food, leash, collar, but we have everything else.
We made an agreement a long time ago if something is over the set limit between us, we need to do a conference call to discuss it so there are no surprises. LOL I know in my heart that he really needs this baby. She was in a pen with her litter mates. She was sedate, but was the only one that came over and never barked. (the others were 2x larger and they were happy little rambunctious yappies.) The entire time I held her, she was quiet and she got along with my DD's service dog and he kissed her several times. When I took my hands off of her, she would lift her head back with big puppy eyes and give me a kiss on my chin or nudge my hand to start petting her. WHen I took both hands often with a busy room of people and animals, she never made an attempt to move at all out of my lap. She was the same way when my DD held her. I really think she has the makings for a great dog. |

Re: I might be in trouble with my Husband.......
The big day arrived. My husband seems smitten. He has been sitting in his recliner holding Penni Lane. Our anniversary is tomorrow, but she was a nice gift to us both a day early.
