Re: do you have any good recipes for blackberries?
Just get a scale which has both kinds of measurements. A digital kitchen scale is great to have!

Re: do you have any good recipes for blackberries?
I only go to the liquor stores here to get the blackberry wine for the cakes, but so far every one I have gone to carries it. I usually get the Manischewitz brand, but I don't think it really matters. I have heard that you aren't supposed to keep wine after it is opened, but I have gone even a few months between making the cakes and couldn't tell a difference.

Re: do you have any good recipes for blackberries?
blackberry wine is SO DELICIOUS if you find a good one. we've had some that are so-so, not very blackberry-tasting, but we've tried a couple that are amazing. both local, or I'd recommend brands

Re: do you have any good recipes for blackberries?
I spent the last few days at a pastor and leadership conference in San Diego - yesterday we had a women clergy lunch. The woman I had the pleasure of sitting next to and I got to talking and she brought up being from Washington and missing the blackberries that she could get in such abundance this time of year. I told her she was making me think of my friend who was asking what new things she could do with blackberries It was nice to have someone bring you to mind in the middle of my day

Bramble jelly (blackberry preserves?) is a big thing in Scotland. Or bramble and apple.

Re: do you have any good recipes for blackberries?
I'd also suggest flash freezing them if you have the freezer space. We did that last year (didn't get enough at one time this year...the one time I went to pick, it was still too early and I barely got a quart ) and it was great to have them all winter to use in regular oatmeal or baked oatmeal. Or they would also work in most other dessert recipes frozen, I imagine. That way you can enjoy your favorite blackberry recipes as fun surprises in January.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Crystal, that is so neat. Thank you for sharing that.
I'm eating some oatmeal with blackberries in it right now, and it's soooo good! I had to look up to see what flash freezing is (http://www.bhg.com/recipes/how-to/co...-freeze-foods/), and that's a great idea! Thank you all again!

Re: do you have any good recipes for blackberries?
I made a blackberry pie this week. It was uh-mazing!! The recipe used a shredded granny smith apple (in addition to tapioca) to thicken it and it worked so well. In fact, I think I'll go have a slice right now. I love them in smoothies, too. I should go pick more and freeze them. We are pretty spoiled 'round here with them, that's for sure.
