Re: Hurricane Irma
Anyone headed up from FL with camping type vehicles, they are posting that the Talledega SPeedway will allow you to park and stay for free.
http://www.talladegasuperspeedway.co...s-Welcome.aspx There are also some cabins at the Oak Mtn Pelham AL that take 8-10 people and they had a few hours ago about 6 cabins left. Stay safe. |

Re: Hurricane Irma
I've been obsessively following this storm. I'm really worked up. My whole family lives in Central FL. I'm a bit relieved for their sake that the models are shifting west, but of course that's not good for everyone on the west coast of FL. Looks like it's going to hit the panhandle some too.
I'm super anxious and unable to sleep. Ready for this to be over. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk

Re: Hurricane Irma
It's going to be bad all over FL. But, I expect central FL to be mostly ok. Most places in central FL won't flood. It's the wind/flying debris that will affect central FL the most. Our house isn't boarded up, and there's no way to get it boarded up either. My friend went to our house and secured our valuables/papers/items precious to us the best she could (closet under the stairs.)

Re: Hurricane Irma
Just wanted to share the resource that got many Houstonians through Harvey: https://spacecityweather.com/
He is based in Houston, but is following Irma right now as weather here is currently pretty quiet. His coverage of Harvey was wonderful: very straightforward, accurate, and without all the hype that the some news outlets tend towards. I am praying for everybody in Irma's path!

Re: Hurricane Irma
I just found out my uncle, aunt and cousin who are in the Tampa area are currently living in their van and are not planning to go to shelter because he believes he can't take his dog with him. :breakheart This scares me.

Re: Hurricane Irma
I read where some hotels were taking pets in with people fleeing FL.
All campgrounds in AL are open and several places were setting up to help with people fleeing. |

Re: Hurricane Irma
My friend just drove up from Disney. She said the Got Gas app was very helpful.
http://www.alapark.com/Hurricane-Irm...accommodations This is the AL park link and apparently things are changing from time to time, so check it for info. I have heard that in some places officials are saying it is better to stay put at this point because being stuck in traffic or running out of gas is more dangerous. |

Re: Hurricane Irma
We've got some damage, but I think it'll be okay. Our fence blew down. We have some water damage in our front room, but it's not a flood. I think water came in through the front door? We lost some papers and things. Our floor is buckled now. We lost a whole stack (20) of Chic-Fil-A fundraiser calendars. I hope they will replace those for us. And we'll need a new roof, but that's generally good because our roof was old anyway. We should get some insurance help for that, and with the floor replacement in the front room.
The eye passed over our house, but thankfully as a Cat 1!
