Re: Free Resources?
As a new homeschooler I am constantly amazed at all the fascinating things my kids (and me too) get to learn. What a great education. Thanks for the wonderful resources.

Re: Free Resources?
What a great thread!!!!
I wanted to add another one I just thought of: http://www.starfall.com/ They have lots of free downloads for helping children read/write, and very cool, fun notebooks/workbooks that they sent us for free a few years ago...looks like they may charge a small fee for them now....less than two dollars! Definitely worth it!!! We have the Level One Reading and Writing Journal (block print) and the Cut-Up Books that include learning about great art masters like Van Gogh....absolutely wonderful stuff! Looks like you can also download these things to print from your computer at no charge! http://www.starfall.com/n/N-info/download.htm

oldfashionededucation.com
It is similar to ambleside online. It uses mostly online texts. The schedules for each grade and the site were put together by hillbilly housewife, if you know who she is. |

This is a site put together by TEAR a christian aid organisation. The materials are all free to download. It is basically a curriculum for teaching kids about how other kids in developing nations live. Love Abby |

Re: Free Resources?
http://www.wowio.com
Sponsored by Verizon, this site allows 5 free ebook downloads per day, once you become a member (also free). I have downloaded several books on Ancient Egypt/Rome/Greece that are required or suggested for our curriculum (Winter Promise QAW). They have textbooks, activity books, fiction, poetry, encylopedias, etc...all are actual "books" in pdf format (so far anyway) and like the library, a few books may have questionable content, but you do not have to download any book you do not want. These are not public domain books, they are mostly books that are current (well, from what I have downloaded only one was published more than 5 years ago). The site is updated almost daily with new materials.
