Anyone ever put together an event program w/advertisements inside?
I'm in charge of making the program for our non-profit school's Christmas fundraiser and student showcase. I need some help figuring out what to charge for the different ad sizes. Sizes would be:
- full page - half page - quarter page - business card size Another local org is doing a fundraise this month and their prices were: - full page: $500 - half page: $300 - quarter page: $100 - business card size: 50 That sounded crazy expensive to me, but I also have nothing to compare it to, so...? Anyone else have any input on what to charge?

Agreed that sounds crazy expensive.
How much does each page cost to print?

I think it depends on your reach and the size of the companies you can attract.

IMO business card size should be within reach of parents...like $10-$20.

I agree with that. I was thinking $20 for the biz card size. So, based on that - $40 for the 1/4, $70 for the half page, and $100 for the full page? Does that sound reasonable?

Re: Anyone ever put together an event program w/advertisements inside?
I think that sounds good. Run it by a few adults involved if possible to make sure they aren't bent out of shape over it being too low, but I think $20 is a good starting point that allows some parents to throw in WAHM business cards without feeling disappointed if it doesn't get a response, and $40 is probably within the reach of small businesses using petty cash. Maybe could bump the full page to $125, since that's still less than $70x2.
---------- Post added at 09:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:56 PM ---------- I did do something like this on a small scale a few times. We got maybe 5 advertisers. And our high school yearbook sold ads...I think I sold one or two. So definitely not an expert, and I live in a lower-income area, but vaguely familiar. With the program pages, I'd estimate first how many pages of content you expect to have before advertising. Then estimate a page or two of ads as a minimum...whatever the least amount is that will fill full sheets of paper...like if the content is 3 pages long, you'll have to fill the 4th page (the backside of page 3) with ads or artwork to avoid having blank paper. If the content is six pages long, you'll have to add another sheet to make 7th/8th pages for ads. If you do a folded booklet, that affects page count, as each sheet adds four pages. Hopefully you'll get more than a single page of ads, but that's where I'd start on a minimum estimate on the cost of printing. Also figure out format. Are you looking at stapling 8.5"x11"? Getting a bound booklet? Folding letter or legal size paper in half? Browse some sites like Vistaprint, UPS, Staples, Kinko's to get an idea how much options will cost you. Find out what your budget is if you have to pay upfront before selling ads. Estimate people...how many families attend?

Those prices seem about normal to me. I wouldn't go under $50

Re: Anyone ever put together an event program w/advertisements inside?
This is our ad pricing for our fall soccer tournament. Parents can do "shout-outs" for $5 (basically a line of 'Go Jane! We love you! Mom Dad Gma Gpa'). Last year they had 450 sponsors.
