Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
My 3yo ate nearly a pound of strawberries while I took a pregnancy nap on the couch.
He now has been to the bathroom 4 times with diarrhea. Is this a sensitivity showing up, or normal reaction for over indulging in strawberries?

Re: Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
I have very limited medical knowledge, but would assume it's just from having so many. Poor baby!

Re: Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
I've seen kids throw up from gorging on fruit they aren't sensitive to. That would be my best bet.

Re: Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
Thanks, I've wondered because strawberries would give him a rash while in diapers, but he is potty trained and has had no issues with them.
So I wasn't sure if the rashes were from the higher acid or a reaction. But he has sensitive skin to acidic fruits, but has not had any other issues with them. I'll assume for now that is is just overindulgence, but keep an eye out for other symptoms in the future just in case.

Re: Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
It could be a sensitivity, but I'd bet on the amount. It's pretty common with cherries, peaches, and other fruit. Too much vitamin C at one time can cause diarrhea.

Re: Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
Pretty sure if I ate that many strawberries at once, I'd have an upset tummy too!

Re: Normal reaction or sensitivity showing?
I've done this to myself on raw pineapple and my favorite broccoli salad - both can give me cramps and what my family calls "yucky poops".
