We've reduced grains and have seen a big difference in how we feel Maybe you could start with eating fewer grains and sugar and see how you feel?

Sara These transitions are so hard. It helps me to do these things in steps. I know some people like to go cold-turkey, but I prefer to start with one thing to cut out specifically, then when I'm feeling good about that, try another.

How are you feeling with your current restrictions? Are you wanting to go further because of the theory of it or because you are looking for greater health/healing? If you're generally doing pretty well with your current diet, I might consider starting with a more incremental approach, eliminating all the grains except a small amount of gluten-free oats and rice for now, and reducing the sugar to small amounts of natural sweeteners, like honey. On the other hand, if you're really needing deeper healing I might consider swallowing the whole pill and doing GAPS. Whatever you try, I don't think it can be emphasized enough to up your healthy fat intake when you're reducing your carbs to help take the edge off of hunger issues.

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
I'm also curious to see what others say about getting kids to eat a better variety of food. Ds doesn't like food to touch, is turned off by certain textures and really likes his beige foods. Though he has actually eaten some zucchini and strawberries from our garden lately
I made this coleslaw from my dr fuhrman Eat for Health book yum! 1/2 cu rasins 1/2 cu apple juice 1/2 cu baked potato 1 tsp mustard 1 TB lemon juice 4 cu shredded cabbage 2 cu shredded carrots 1 cu shredded beets (optional) 1/4 cu finely sliced scallion Blend raisins, apple juice, potato, mustard, and lemon juice in a high powered blender. mix w/remaining ingredients Sooooo good. I used my vitamix to chop the veggies on level 3 and it was perfect. I also made some "raw" almond butter by soaking some almonds then sprouting them (though they don't look any different so ) then I put them in the toaster oven on the lowest setting for a few minutes, then I blended them in the vitamix with some raisins- so good. going to try making more tomorrow with flaxseed blended in I've gotten even more dedicated to a healthy diet recently. I think I have a sluggish liver and after eating Papa John's pizza a week or so ago I felt like I had an alcohol hangover for about 5 days I actually had to take ibprofen a few times to help my headache. I've been eating lots of cabbage and home-grown beets and that seems to have helped.

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
I've still been eating a small bowl of natural peanut butter with bittersweet chocolate chips almost every night. And I sleep so much better those nights If I don't eat it, I don't sleep as well
Wish I could figure out something that works that well for Gabriel

All through puberty and my early adult years, I struggled with eating disorders. I think all those years of not eating when i was so, so hungry and forcing myself to eat, even when I was full really messed up my brain and body. I don't have an "off" switch with food anymore. I'm a healthy weight but I definitely overeat. I feel so weak. I *think* I'm going to go slowly - cut out corn and refined sugar. Still have rice or rice/pasta once a week, oatmeal every other morning, maybe quinoa/quinoa flour once a week or so. Still allow honey and maple syrup in moderation. |

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
isn't quinoa a seed not a grain? would you need to restrict that? Maybe you're not getting enough nutrients. What if you add some berries or green smoothie to your breakfast? Dr fuhrman says you need to meet 3 criteria to feel full- Without running to grab my book I think it's nutrients, volume, and calories.
