Homemade Miracle Whip
Anyone have a good recipe? I tried one I found, but it just tasted like oil (I think my olive oil was rancid.. it was the last of a big bottle that I've had for a long time). It also called for white wine vinegar, and I only had white vinegar, Dijon mustard but I only had regular, etc. I would love to be able to make some though

Re: Homemade Miracle Whip
This: http://www.recipetips.com/recipe-car...tato-salad.asp
It is as close to my grandmother's recipe as I could find online. She used more sugar, & be sure to use cider vinegar, she said it was the only one mild enough for her. (If I could lay hands on her actual recipe, I would give you that, but I can't...... Besides, she was an" add till thin enough, cook till done" kind of a person). The key is to use a rule that calls it "boiled dressing", but don't boil it!! It will curdle, & have to be tossed out.

Re: Homemade Miracle Whip
Deanna, yeah, vinegar in whipped cream :shudder I grew up on Miracle Whip, but the last couple of times I used it it tasted horrible (I hope it's b/c I've been trying to eat more clean stuff, but I think it's also b/c it was getting old!). Also, I used to love MW on egg sandwiches, and my almost 5 y/o has started asking for his sandwiches w/ that on it... so it's way past time for something healthier!
Thanks Zooey! I'll try it.. it sounds more yummy than the one I tried. We are out of milk so I won't be able to make it yet, but I really want some Tuna salad so it will be soon! I wonder if I can sub honey for the sugar

Re: Homemade Miracle Whip
I can't think of any reason that honey wouldn't work. It just has to be sweetened well.
