Back injury from babywearing
E (3yo) rarely wants to be worn anymore, but I still pop her in the Ergo every now and then for short bouts. Well, 2 weeks ago I wore her for 2 hrs for a walkathon on Friday, then for an hour on Saturday in another walkathon. I felt fine - just a little sore in the hips...and my legs were tired.
Fast-forward a couple days and my low back suddenly started hurting. Got worse each day, and took me a while to realize the cause of it. After nearly a week of pain meds, arnica, ice, chiropractic, and "rest," I'm finally starting to feel a bit better. Still hurts to sit for any length of time (which is why I haven't been on GCM in a while). So the moral of all this: if you haven't worn your preschooler much lately, don't randomly start back up for hours at a time. Build your muscles back up to it.

Re: Back injury from babywearing
I had that happen with the ergo in particular also as my kids tend to move their weight around a lot when in it. I had to switch to taller panneled carriers- Boba, Oh Snap, Beco etc to hold their torsos snugger up to me. Sorry you got hurt- hope you are better now.

Re: Back injury from babywearing
I pulled a muscle in my back when I decided to wear my then 2 year old on a hike in the Redwoods after sleeping on a air mattress the night before. Not fun!

Re: Back injury from babywearing
I have a degenerated lumbar disk from baby wearing. There are consequences for choices..even good choices sometimes have them
