Help me with a simple menu

I'm hosting a family with 4 kids for a family play date (4 kids, mom and dad) and I need an easy menu. My little one is 6 weeks old and I'm not planning on cooking much the day of.

Total 5 kids including my DD1 ages 3-9. 4 adults. Bonus if it's dairy free.

I am inclined to feel like if you have a 6 wk old they should be bringing the meal

I agree!

If I really felt the need to provide food, I would do chicken BBQ in the crockpot, buns, and salad.

Chicken bbq in the crockpot is good! Pasta salad? Are you opposed to buying things from the grocery store pre-made? Like deli salad- pasta or potato? I know it's more expensive, but you have your hands full!

Well, I offered to host due to wanting to be on my own turf. And I guess I feel I should supply the meal. She offered to bring something so one less side.

Definitely a great idea on the BBQ chicken. I think I will do that. So easy and everyone can make their own.

Not opposed at all. Good idea. I'll buy one big side and the guests will bring one. And I'll buy cookies or cupcakes for dessert.

Back up suggestion - taco salad/soft tacos. Just keep the ingredients separate and you don't have to keep track of dairy

I think it's fantastic that you're doing this.

What a blessing to the other family to be able to socialize and have an amazing dinner with you guys.

Let us know your final menu. I'm always looking for simple ideas like this.
