Good free online virus scans/removals?
Our family computer . . . one of our boys has gotten into the habit of downloading every free game trial play he runs across and I didn't realize (I had found out about one game that I did buy for him because I knew he wanted it, but the others I was ) --they are all clean games, from family friendly sites, and apparently dh knew
But with them have come all sorts of garbage I'm trying to get out of there because now sites like Webkinz won't load So I spent an hour or more the other night doing removals but I need a good site for finding and removing viruses. I'd like to do what I can at home for free. If I need to we have friends who can sweep the whole thing, but I don't want to bother them if I don't need to.

Re: Good free online virus scans/removals?
I can't recommend Avast highly enough. I posted the other day about a computer I pulled hundreds of viruses and adware off of. The computer had the paid version of Norton and had been scanned weekly. Norton missed them all.
What type of antivirus are you using right now? |

I use avast to prevent viruses. Malware bytes is pretty good for removing them. I use spybot and adaware for spyware.

ETA: you can not run more than one antivirus software at the same time, but you can use more than one spyware program. Sometimes it has taken me using more than one to detect all of the issues on a computer. |

Re: Good free online virus scans/removals?
I use both the malwarebytes and the onecare scan. The onecare picked up a few things that the malware didn't.

Re: Good free online virus scans/removals?
What those kind of programs mainly put on your computer is spyware. I recommend Spyware Blaster and SpyBot Search and Destroy. Both are free but also remind you that you are welcome to donate. My favorite is SpyBot S&D.
