Zaycon meat
I have read about this company on various blogs. Anyone have any experience with them? We currently get Aldi's chicken, the more natural option. The name is escaping me. It is not outright organic. How would these two compare in terms of animal treatment? Zaycon would be much cheaper.

Re: Zaycon meat
we love love love Zaycon. If you decide to order I can give you a referral code There is some outright organic meat, but the regular meat is clearly clean and untainted. I react to *everything* questionable and the quality is clear and obvious. It tastes like real meat -- not filler or junk. No injected liquids, etc.
We love them!

Re: Zaycon meat
Oh, thank you for asking this question! I just looked, and there is a group within 30 miles of me in a town I do almost all of our shopping anyway! I've been dissatisfied with our meat here, and it is great to see this. Thank you!
AOL, is a referral code necessary, or can I just register on my own?

Re: Zaycon meat
Nice! I need to register and then I can see how close pick up is to where I live. I will PM you AOL if I decide to order! I think you don't need a code but she gets $1 if people use her code. I am excited to check it out!

Re: Zaycon meat
They do use antibiotics for what I've seen (we had a thread on this not long ago). The prices are still higher than grocery store sales in my area.

Re: Zaycon meat
I did read about the antibiotic use on the website. Sounds like they do use it when animals are sick but wait until it is out of their system. I have no idea what factory farm meat costs at our grocery stores but I am paying a little over $4/lb at Aldi's for the more natural chicken breasts and that is a great deal. Zaycon is $1.69. huge savings.

Zaycon meat
Market Basket and many other chains here are now routinely antibiotic free for their regular chicken. Last time I checked, Zaycon was $1.99/lb here and you had to buy a lot Grocery stores semi-regularly have $1.99/lb and occasionally as low as $1.49.
I was mostly commenting on the antibiotic use, though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ---------- Post added at 01:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:32 PM ---------- From the website: "Low levels of antibiotics may be used when necessary to prevent disease, and for animal welfare purposes. This also benefits growth promotion and reduced mortality." That sounds like routine antibiotic use to me. Again, not trying to dissuade anyone. Just sharing info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought it was mostly marketed for students who need to grab a few groceries. Rats- I do not want to deal with the driving and parking to get there.

Re: Zaycon meat
Does anyone know approximately how many chicken breasts are in a 40 lb box?

Re: Zaycon meat
I have seen this and considered. The prices are ok -- not better than store sales prices and having to buy in such big bulk is a downside. At least for me, given that freezer space is a premium.
However, how it's packaged may change my opinion on it. I'm assuming it comes flash frozen? Are the pieces of meat sealed and packaged individually or is it all packaged together?

Re: Zaycon meat
I think it is all fresh because various people say they spend time packaging the chicken fter picking it up.
Just checked and the Aldi's chicken is no antibiotics ever. I can't believe the prices some of you can get for that quality of chicken! Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
