Re: Must save money. Help.
Idk if the felt will work My guess is it won't and would be uncomfortable.
Do you have any fleece blankets, pajamas, jackets or scarves you can chop up? I bet you can find something you can use (that you won't mind losing) around your house. |

Re: Must save money. Help.
Oh, I misread it. Felt won't work. But crafting fleece is cheap.

Re: Must save money. Help.
ask your friends if they have any fleece scraps or on Freecycle. And if you don't get any it shouldn't be a big deal.
You can do what I did, had a diaper laid out on my nightstand ready to change baby into, I even did it in the dark. Do you think baby would be okay being changed once at night? You might just need to do that for a little while. (And if I lived close I'd just buy you a box of disposable). Do I get points for thinking about it?

Re: Must save money. Help.
I know I'm not the OP, but I'm changing my newborn several times at night when he wakes to nurse - if I wake up enough. Sometimes I just roll over and nurse him and forget about the diaper. He's thoroughly soaked at every change, and has a rash at 2 weeks old.

Re: Must save money. Help.
Often there are fleece remnants for 50% off or more at fabric stores. I cut strips about 4-5 inches wide, and about 8-10 inches long.

Re: Must save money. Help.
I never had a kid wet like you're describing for Owl, so it was just never an issue for us. You might give it a try, just one dipe, and if it doesn't make it to the next nursing, switch then to the disposable.

Try them. Try anything. But fleece strips gave Samantha yeast. She couldn't handle synthetics of any kind.

fleece doesn't bother either S or R. It won't hurt to try.

Re: Must save money. Help.
I've had the best containment using cheap nylon pull-on covers over my nighttime diapers (right now I use pockets stuffed with a full size hemp flat with a microfiber insert inside of that). DS wakes up soaked, but I've not had any leaks. I've used Dappi Nylon covers and Bummis Super Whisper Pants.
The pockets provide the fleece protection, but I use fleece strips inside my prefolds during the day for the same benefits everyone else has already described

Re: Must save money. Help.
Let us know how it goes tonight.
I'm thinking of a fleece blanket I could probably cut up and never miss...

Re: Must save money. Help.
I have cut up tons of fleece blankets, sweatshirts, etc to use for dipes (my favorite cover is actually 2 layers of fleece blankets sewn together). Fleece rocks.

Sweatshirts? Do tell! (Not that I have the ability to sew right now, but, you know, for future reference...)
