Re: February dinners
Cool it's groceries shopping day so I'll post menus latter.
It's takeout day and I'm thinking pizza night.

Re: February dinners
Tonight is grilled cheese and tomato soup. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to roast some cauliflower as well.

Re: February dinners
Thanks for starting a new thread!
We got at least a foot of snow yesterday and I need comfort food, so I have Beef Barley Soup in the the Crockpot. Probably a salad on the side. I may have to make Popovers for Littlest. (I haven't made this in years and years. Here's hoping everybody will eat it! Actually, Littlest already declared she won't and then stormed off fuming two hours ago. But she doesn't eat anything.)

Re: February dinners
I wonder if a brown arborio rice would be good? (Or any super short grain brown rice. You need something that can stand up to long cooking times. Wild rice takes 50 minutes to cook, maybe that would work? Probably wouldn't score as high on the Heartiness scale, either, though, like Knitlove said.)
Buckwheat!?

Re: February dinners
Wild rice sounds yummy! I've been making it in my IP. I bet brown rice would work.

Re: February dinners
What does whole sorghum taste like? (I've only ever bought it as a flour.)

Re: February dinners
Tonight is slow cooked chicken and veggies. I love the slow cooker (you might call it a crock pot ) because it takes 15 minutes of prep in the morning and then I can forget about it all day!
