What is this bush?
We had 2 identical bushes with shiny leaves and red flowers in the spring.
Because I live on a very wooded lot we have very little sun - so I pulled one of these bushes to plant raspberries in it's place. I noticed today that the remaining bush has all these little fruits. I assume they are not edible (though they look like pears). Anyone know what this is. TIA!

Re: What is this bush?
I think they are quince. I have Only seen the trees a few times, but they look like it, and red flowers in spring...
But please verify before eating. Maybe take a few leaves and a fruit down to your extension office/knowledgable garden center. I am afraid I told you quince, but really they're like Guatemalan Deathfruits or something. |

Maybe tomorrow I will take a further away picture. It is not a tree, it is a bush. Only about chest high. Quote:
Thanks for your help though, any more guesses?

Re: What is this bush?
I'd guess a Japanese quince bush. Or Chaenomeles japonica. These bushes are typically only about 3 foot high at full maturity.
