How to get grime off the stovetop?
When dh's 20 year old nephew lived with us, he cleaned the stove top really well. It sparkled. I have used oven cleaner but to this day I have not been able to get under the burners or the stove top so clean. I try to stay on top of the spills when they happen...

Elbow grease as far as I can tell and more free time on his hands than I currently have.

Baking soda and dish soap mixed. And elbow grease unfortunately.

Re: How to get grime off the stovetop?
I'll second the recommendation to make a paste of baking soda and a couple drops of dish soap. It cuts grease, scours off the hard gunk, and soaks it all up at the same time.

How to get grime off the stovetop?
Bar Keeper's Friend. We use it on our ceramic cooktop without an issue!

Re: How to get grime off the stovetop?
Now that I'm actually on a real computer (rather than my tablet) and can type, I'll elaborate. BarKeeper's friend is the only thing I'll use on our flat stove top. The stuff is amazing.
We bought this current house as a foreclosure, and the stovetop was dirty. It had this layer of grime that appeared to be underneath the glasstop. Nothing would touch it. It was weird. Someone recommended barkeepers friend. I wiped the stove down with a wet wash cloth, sprinkled on some powder, set a damp hot wash cloth on top to moisten it and left it for a few minutes. Came back and was AMAZED at how easily it all wiped up! I tried SO MANY other things before this.

Re: How to get grime off the stovetop?
I used to do baking soda too, but salt is cheaper and works for me just the same.

Re: How to get grime off the stovetop?
There's a little plastic scrubby that Don Aslet cleaning centers sell that works fabulously on just about anything including stovetop grime. They're not expensive, either.
