Herbal folk medicine - yarrow
I have been working with herbs for 3 years but just started wild foraging for medicinal plants this year. Prior to that I either purchased my herbs or grew them myself. Anyway, my question is this:
If I missed the peak time to harvet wild yarrow and it had started to brown and the flowers dried and went to seed can. I still use the dried flower/seed from the plant to make a balm? Most of the leaves were still strong and green so I feel comfortable using them in preparations that could either be used internally or topically but I wasn't sure about the dried flower/seeds. Anyone have any experience wild foraging herbs and this situation? |

Re: Herbal folk medicine - yarrow
When yarrow turns brown, that usually means it's useless for medicinal purposes. It is better to cut the flowers and keep them out of direct sunlight while they dry.
