What is this pot used for?
His is part of the set my grandmother gave us at our wedding shower. In 12 years of marriage I've never used it and am thinking of getting rid of it but would like to know what I'm getting rid of.

Re: What is this pot used for?
Maybe roasting a big hunk of meat so that it stays out of the grease? Like a chicken or turkey? Or steaming something on the rack like steamed dough or veggies??

Re: What is this pot used for?
I would also guess some kind of a roaster, probably for meat.

Re: What is this pot used for?
It looks like a chafing dish to me. Does it say anything on the bottom?

Re: What is this pot used for?
It just says "stainless 18/20" on the bottom. But I also have this stand with a hole in it that I just use to keep a pot in the back row elevated so I can see/grab it:
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ---------- Post added at 11:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 PM ---------- Here is the whole thing assembled: So is that a Chafing pot? I googled it and can't ever imagine using it. It looks like it's mostly used for fish or other delicate dishes? I don't like cooking so I go with quick and easy. Doesn't sound like this is used for quick and easy foods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yep, looks like a chafing dish.
Usually used to serve foods and keep them warm, like on a buffet table or something? I would personally never use one... I'm like you as far as cooking goes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: What is this pot used for?
It's for keeping cooked foods hot on a buffet table. It's probably useless to you if you not entertain much.

Re: What is this pot used for?
It's a beautiful chafing dish. I am a bit of a foodie and I like kitchen gadgets as long as they're useful. I wouldn't keep a chafing dish.

Re: What is this pot used for?
Anyone care to share how much they think something like this is worth and where I'd find an audience that might be interested? I posted it on our local Facebook yard sale page and it's been crickets.
