I bought the shark. I vacuumed with the Oreck first. There wasn't much left anywhere expect for the stairs. The Shark shines on the stairs! Wow!!!! It's also great that it has a hose for the hard to reach places. I'm glad I have both now.

My nanny family has the Dyson ball. (This model:http://www.dyson.com/vacuum-cleaners...FYsmhgod8ykByQ ) And I love it because it picks up peas and rice off the kitchen floor.

Any vacuum that can do that is alright in my book!

ECingMama, I bought the Shark, too! And can I just say YUCK....I can't believe the amount of cat hair that was in the vacuum canister. The carpet felt a bit softer too after using the vacuum. So happy with the purchase! I signed up for Bed Bath and Beyond's email list and got a 20% off coupon for one item in the store.

Yes, that's exactly it. There was an entire DOG in my Shark JUST from the stairs! The Oreck did everything else just fine. But those stairs! I thought they were clean too!!! Ick.

Yep. Every time I do my stairs the canister fills with dog & cat hair!
