Removing dried grout/caulk from the tub

When we moved into this house the bathtub in the girls' bathroom had doors, rather than a curtain. I HATE bathtubs with doors. I knew my brother had recently removed the doors from the tub in his house, and hadn't had any issues doing it, so asked my dad to remove ours. BUT whatever caulk/grout/glue they used to seal the doors to the tub is super hard and won't come up. I asked my brother what he used, and he said theirs had been soft(ish) and cleaned off easily.

Any recommendations for removing this? I'm concerned if we try to chip it off we'll accidentally chip the tub. It doesn't really matter except that it looks bad (it would be a bigger deal if I had itty bitty kids who needed help in the tub, because it's rough to sit on the edge of the tub, or lean over it, but my kids are older, so that's not an issue), but that's also the bathroom guests use if they stay overnight, so I'd like it to look decent. HELP?!?!

Get it really super-duper wet (like puddle the water around it if you can) and scrape it with a PLASTIC putty knife. I used one of those on our steel tub and it eventually came off. The plastic putty knife is important, though, because it won't scratch like metal will.

There's no way to puddle water around it, I don't think, because it's either vertical (the walls) or on the edge of the tub, but maybe put wet rags on it for awhile, re-wetting as they dry out, would accomplish the same thing, at least on the edge of the tub . . . the plastic putty knife is brilliant, thank you!!!

Stick wet napkins or papertowels to it and keep wetting them so they stay wet until it has soaked enough into what you want to remove.
