I had a very strange medical occurence and I never get things like that. It was only hours later that I realized it happened at the peak of the eclipse. I assume it was just coincidence but now I wonder if there is a possible correlation? Anyone have any knowledge?

So, this is from Bustle, not exactly the most credible but

https://www.bustle.com/p/why-do-i-ha...it-means-78008

If this is true, it makes sense that those of us that were outside for a long time would be less likely to get a headache compared to those who went out for a short time.

We were about 78%. We had one pair of glasses to pass around and Dh got out the telescope to project the image on a big white board. The shadows that came through the leaves were super cool. I'm not sure what the temperature drop was, but the heat/sun was noticeably less intense for an August afternoon.

My mom was at 98% and her pictures didn't seem that dark, but it was a little cloudy there. She said her dog got super clingy.

For us it did go completely dark and the temp immediately dropped. We were also able to see a planet so that was fun too. Not middle of the night pitch black but dark. My kids were amazed by it. My 2 yr old was just enthralled that the moon put the sun to bed.

I read this article too. It was my husband's explanation too-even before I googled it!

I was going in and out. My kids were just out.

But, IDK. I prefer to think it's related to some design issue God put in me.

That was my thought, too, since I know light can induce migraines.

My mom rarely gets headaches, and she got one during the eclipse even though she didn't look at the sun at all. (She has cataracts and didn't trust the glasses).

I have had light induced migraines. . Or a regular headache increase to a migraine from light. Hazy summer days can be a trigger for me.

I didn't go out to look at the eclipse. In fact I was inside with the physical therapist at the time of the incident. BUT I did drive there about 10 minutes prior when we were near the peak so despite not looking I was in the midst of it, if it makes a difference.

CelticJourney, I can see those pics. AMAZING!

We were in and out of the house and we all got the tiniest headache but I would describe it more as just visual weirdness from the frequent differences in lighting.

2 and a half minutes of totality. It was amazing! Our chickens freaked out about 30-60 seconds before totality when it suddenly got dark and they weren't in their coop. They didn't have much warning because it had still been pretty light up until then.

The diamond ring effect was beyond what I've seen in pictures and video. So stunning!

We had 2.5 mins of totality, too! It was SO COOL. The crickets all started singing! We went to my aunt's house, who has a pool, so the kids could swim and play during the lead up to and from the main part, and we occasionally checked on it with our glasses. It was perfect since it was super hot today!

I'm sad I forgot to look for the shadows. I'd heard about them, but got so caught up in how cool it was and watching my kids' faces, that I forgot. Oh well. We had a GREAT day.

We also saw cars from 20 different states during our short time on the interstate on the way home. That was fun for us, too!

I saw the shadow snakes too! I didn't even know about them till my FIL pointed them out. The corona was beautiful

I almost stayed home where it was 97% and am SO glad I didn't.

But one of the coolest things was sharing the excitement and awe with so many people across the US. It had a similar feeling to Christmas morning, when all the moms on FB are sharing their kids happy faces, except this was for all of us and not created by any of us. Pretty epic.

The kids and I drove to South Carolina today, since our house was only at 97%. I am soooo glad we made the trip! So, so cool. It was just amazing. I didn't expect to be blown away as much as I was. The kids liked it too, especially my oldest. They did really well with keeping their glasses on, even my 2yo! It helped that they were swimming at the time, so were distracted.

I got a headache too, even though I was outside the whole time. I have been getting headaches every day this week. I get headaches all the time, but this frequency is unusual. I hope they go away now that the eclipse is over!

Cool pics CJ.

My kids loved it. I missed it as I was driving, but it was much darker. (92% here)

We are in the path of totality for the 2024! My dd will be a senior and my ds a junior then!
