Re: crayon on untreated wood
If it's truly raw wood (not lacquered) I think sanding is the way to go. I'm not sure I've ever seen an untreated bunk bed, though.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
I think sanding would be the only way to get it off.

Sanding.
If you have comet or the like you can put a wee bit on a damp cloth and clean it tiny circles.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
it probably has some sort of wax rub on it, so you will probably need to sand it and then rub wax on it.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
Pouring or dabbing boiling water on the wood might help. It would remove the wax, and hopefully lift the colour at the same time.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
Yeah, if you iron a damp paper towel over it, it might steam/melt the crayon out of the wood. Too much moisture can be a problem, but a little bit of steam will pop out any nicks and dents and maybe fill up the pores that are holding the crayon color.
I think I'd try baking soda first though, possibly a paste of rubbing alcohol with baking soda. It would sand the wood just a teeny tiny bit, but not as much as other options that might leave scratches. Making a paste with rubbing alcohol is how I get permanent marker off dry erase boards without ruining them...neither the alcohol alone nor the baking soda does the trick, but the solvent action of the alcohol combined with the grit of the baking soda seems to be just right. So, maaaaybe that might work on the crayon on the bed if Crayola is suggesting alcohol.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
OF a bit but you can use a dry erase marker to remove perment marker stains off a dry erase board..
just use a typical dry erase and color ALL over the affected parts then wipes clean. its actually quite simple.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
I had some that wasn't coming off well even with that strategy.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
There's also the option of painting over it.

Re: crayon on untreated wood
One day I might. though because of the room size it wont be an easy task.. I like the rustic look but it could also be nice painted. Thankfully the colored part is not visable when your just looking straight at the bed.
