Default What do you use to clean your bathroom - esp soap scum?

We have super hard water and lately the soap scum seems to build up faster than ever. The fact that we make our own soap seems to contribute. I usually use borax to scrub the bathtub and sink, and some vinegar. But I am wondering if I should try something else intermittently. Any suggestions?

I love those magic erasers for the bathroom (they have a generic one Great Value at Walmart) they really cut thru all the grime especially soap scum.

Magic erasers!! Cleaning the tub is almost almost but not quite pleasant since I discovered how well they do the job.
I spray a good bathroom cleaner in the tub,let it sit for two minutes and then the magic eraser does the rest with very little elbow grease

Wait, you mix them? Isn't there some rule about mixing cleaners & how they can create noxious fumes?

My understanding is, you should not mix cleaning products containing ammonia with cleaning products containing chlorine. For the same reason you should not use chlorine-containing products (e.g. bleach) to clean up urine (since urine contains ammonia).

It should be fine to use a magic eraser with a cleaner (though you can use them with just water) since a magic eraser is made of melamine foam, and works by physically scrubbing the surface, not by any chemical reaction.

Bar soap and liquid castile soap are BANNED from my house because I hate soap scum. But Magic Erasers are very good for soap scum and hard water deposits.

I use a homemade all-purpose cleaner made with distilled white vinegar, water, and drop of natural dish liquid, and whatever EO strikes my mood. Citrus are especially good for cleaning. In flu season I tend to reach for OnGuard EO. I spray liberally, let it sit a minute or two, and use the Magic Eraser.

A cup of vinegar a cup of hot water and I think 3 squirts of dawn dish soap in a spray bottle...spray on soap scum leave for a couple minutes.

Make sure room is well ventilated the hot vinegar and water smell really burns.

If it gets really bad I use kaboom twice a year to get it back to base.

A combo of baking soda, vinegar and blue dawn in a large bowl. Then scrub with microfiber ie fuzzibunz inserts - I don't like them on the bum but I do clean with them.

I eyeball blue Dawn, vinegar and some warm water in a spray bottle. Sometimes I add tea tree or lemon oil to it. Shake it up, spray it on and leave it for 20 minutes or so. I use a wet bath poof on a stick (guess it's a back scrubber) to rub it off. Works great.

Another Dawn + vinegar girl here!
Magic Eraser works really well for tough stains, so I only have to do that occasionally. I used to use Scrubbing Bubbles but like Dawn and vinegar more

This is probably my LEAST favorite household chore....though I don't hate it so much I'd be willing to give up my bath/shower or anything THAT severe

Cleaning it = a necessary evil

I tried the vinegar/dawn thing twice. Was not all that impressed -- and even if it is actually a less toxic option, it smelled icky & felt icky breathing it in

Last time I was tackling it, I bought the CLR spray. It worked quite well....trick being to let it sit, but not so long it dries!
