I’m making a box of “sell” vs “give away”. but yes I need to do this. I need to just bite the bullet and begin selling or getting rid of everything younger than dd2’s level. Somehow this seems really hard for me. I’m pretty sure I’m grieving the age of my kids and that my dd1 is almost done and ds is at her heels. I’m 2 years and 4 months I will be down from 3 to 1 child homeschooling

I can imagine that's really hard!
I'm having a hard time keeping things. I want to get rid of all the easy readers but I need to save them for L. I wonder if I'll feel differently when I really have to get rid of everything. |

I’m tossing things from the kids early years really easily and paring down “keepsakes”

Re: Decluttering thread? Challenge? Accountability?
This summer and fall we had family visit from overseas. Lots of decluttering occurred. Now the house is a disaster again. DH will help when motivated, but otherwise contributes to the mess. I swear his mother and aunt must have followed him around with a broom and dustpan when he was a kid.
But I've started back up reading The Non-Consumer Advocate and she does thrift stores and resales on EBay. Makes me think I should follow her lead on the selling part. I also have a friend that rents a booth at a flea market and sells stuff there. I could leave stuff with her too. Hmmm. We're supposed to get more winter weather this weekend. I might have a project. |

Re: Decluttering thread? Challenge? Accountability?
This is a small thing but the small things add up. I went through all my hair rubber bands. Threw out the ones that were over stretched or I hated the color. Then I put all the remaining ones on a carabiner. So nice in my drawer.
My dh had some old electronics in the garage. . I kept asking him to either let me take them to the thrift store or sell them. He kept saying they weren't worth very much but he wanted to donate them to a ministry or church or something. But he made no movement on finding an organization that wanted them and they were just an accident waiting to happen in the garage. Water, mice, kids-- something was going to ruin them and then they'd need to go into the landfill. So, he finally told our kids that they could sell them and use the money. One is already sold and the rest are listed. |
