Re: Get us to Friday! Meal planning with no money and minimal food
Can you make bread from the flour, sugar, oil, and salt? You'd need a leavening agent - yeast or baking soda/baking powder. Biscuits and honey would make a breakfast.
How about an Italian-style chicken/tomato mixture over the spaghetti noodles for lunch/dinner? Tuna salad sandwiches for a lunch. Maybe with the chili beans at the same time, just to bump up the protein. Popcorn and spoonfuls of PB for snacks. Ooh! I know! Do breakfast for dinner and make pancakes with scrambled eggs. Use honey to top the pancakes if you don't have syrup.

Gluten free PBJs - just mix the pb and jelly in a bowl and eat with a spoon.
---------- Post added at 11:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 PM ---------- Dice the tomatoes, mash the beans, and make homemade tortillas with the flour for tacos/burritos

Re: Get us to Friday! Meal planning with no money and minimal food
breakfasts: pancakes (2 eggs)
lunches: pbj (make some more bread- you need more than six slices) tuna salad sandwiches (again, make bread, make mayo- one egg and oil) dinners: spaghetti noodles with chicken (chop it tiny) and peanut sauce (soy sauce, pb, sugar) chili (use fresh tomatoes and chili beans) make cornbread to go with it if you have cornmeal snacks: popcorn with butter, homemade muffins (use only 1 egg- you need the other ones for making mayonnaise and for the pancakes) peanut butter plus powdered sugar makes pretty decent fudge. Really, though, I don't know if you have enough of any of those things to feed your whole big family. Is there a food pantry that could help?

Popcorn balls for snacks? Use popcorn, butter, peanut butter nd honey? Idk. Those would work for breakfast too.

Re: Get us to Friday! Meal planning with no money and minimal food
woo hoo a friend brought me some green beans from her garden!
So far today Breakfast left over porridge Snack I stirred an egg into the last bit of porridge and baked it on a sheet pan...kind of weird granola bar type thing. Lunch tomato or tuna sandwiches on toast Dinner is going to be green beans and tomato sauteed and served over spaghetti, I'll grill the chicken breast and slice it super thin too. Then I'll make some popcorn for bedtime snack. Tomorrow I'll probably use the other three eggs and whatever left over green beans and tomatoes there might be to make a frittata I'll make baked beans for lunch (found a can of pinto beans hiding in the pantry!) and I think I'll have at least one zucchini ready to pick tomorrow. I think I'll make pudding for a snack since I have enough milk. I'll do more popcorn too since I won't be able to go shopping until evening and there won't be anything much to eat until I get back. It's frustrating to come home from vacation and have next to no food in the house because your DH convinced you to use up everything before you leave... |
