Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
favorite music...I have a very mellow album by a Christian artist that I play when I need to relax, way calmer than what I would normally listen to doing chores or such. It's a nice one to sing to, and that helps me, too...harmony and all that.

Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
buy fresh cut flowers
Does buying things count as self care? Anyway I have a beautiful bouquet on my kitchen island now and it makes me smile when I see it (though my neighbor actually bought it- I asked her to pick it up for me when she was going to the store- we pick things up for each other and pay each other back but I never asked for anything that frivolous before )

Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
I think it does. I went through a phase when I moved into my current house that I would buy a Costco bouquet every trip. DH thought it was a waste, but I liked it.

Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
Deep breathing
Hot/cold cuppa and go outside to sit down alone (I keep a small table and chairs on my front porch. It is definitely one of my favorite places.) Go Earthing (walk around the yard barefoot, anytime of year. Even winter. The cold snow will definitely improve your mood and get ya movin.) Delve into some essential oils. Add some to a candle, a diffuser, or to a base oil to rub on. Use the head massager Definitely one of the best things around! Use a small foot massager or ball under the feet. Go out and breathe in the night air. Color or knit. (Even just a few minutes is relaxing.)

Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
I think so. I think of shopping especially with a friend as selfcare. I mean shopping I want to do, not needed shopping. Which I am not really a shopper, but maybe if I were.

But I already do this sometimes anyway. Like I will go to take out the trash or get the mail and just stand outside for a minute breathing it in and enjoying the outside. I could add in a little barefoot walk next time!

Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
Lol, I can't handle running through the snow barefoot as much as I used to, but even plunging your hands down into fresh powder for a second then brushing off is still grounding It's amazing how wonderful and healing nature can be. The fresh flowers Aerynne mentioned, airing your house out each day, touching your favorite tree...
I think buying things definitely can count as self-care. I bought a coloring book today from Costco that I've had my eye on for a while. I also bought a DVD the kids are looking forward to and hopefully I will have a bit of quiet time while they watch it I also bought a special snack for dd1 and I to enjoy during our weekly tv show. I enjoy her fleeting company so much that it seems like self-care to me when we can sit and enjoy a show together without chaos going on (she's 17 so I'm enjoying each snippet of time I can with her.)

Re: Self Care One Can do in 5-10 minutes
These are great lists! So many good ones here.
I can only add Taking the 5 minutes it takes to make a good, big salad or a green smoothie for a meal, even when you are making something else for the rest of the family. That is huge for me. And yet, when I need it the most, I tend to not do it.
