No, I just wing it and use google. Or call my mom.
My husband just bought me a nice raised gardening table for the back deck....so I won't have to use sterlite containers. He lurves me.

Re: Join the pot, er, container gardening party!
We will do tomatoes again. I want to fallow along here though I would love to do more but we don't have much space, and I won't be able to put some thing else out for another month at least. I looked and looked at little melons I just don't know if we would have enough time get any ripe.

Re: Join the pot, er, container gardening party!
Taedareth, why did I think you had a bunch of land, were homesteading, and had just gotten baby ducks? Did I just make that up in my head? I thought at least the ducks were true. I remember the ducks because I mispelled the word with an i(on my phone), did it again here, but caught it, phew!

This will be my first container garden! I'm pretty excited.
I'm growing: strawberries cherry tomatoes zinnia, nasturtium, eat me plant flowers zucchini spinach nantes carrots string beans basil, parsley, oregano radishes lettuce I think I might have gone overboard for my first garden, so we'll see.

Re: Join the pot, er, container gardening party!
Anyone want to help me decide if we want to attempt gardening this year?
I'm in FL, so I need to decide like a few weeks ago. We have seeds, and have decided to use fabric pots, but got cold feet before ordering them and buying the dirt. History has shown we kinda stink at the maintenance of it, and don't have a lot of time for it. And, the fire ants destroyed a lot when we tried it before. If it failed, we'd waste all the money invested in supplies (though we could reuse the fabric pots later I suppose). OTOH, if we were successful, then we'd have a lot of yummy, fresh produce, save money and it would be fun for the kids, though DS likes to take the dirt out of the tomato plants we had/have. Thoughts? (I actually want to be cheered on really, but may need some sobering advice as well). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Join the pot, er, container gardening party!
Andrea, I think you should plant at least one thing in a pot this year.
And, you thought I was living on land and had ducks because you've got a good memory! I was! But we moved recently. My friend has invited me to have a large garden on his land this year, so if all goes well I'll be able to grow my big crops there (potatoes, squash, tomatoes, onions, garlic, maybe some grain corn again). But! I like having a "kitchen garden" - herbs and leafy greens right outside my door. That's where the pots come in, because at our new appartment all I've got is a balcony. Also, I have a Mr. and Mrs. muscovy duck and nine chickens. They are living below our balcony, in a large fenced dog run I'm thinking about getting Magpie ducklings from a local breeder. They're more of an egg-production duck, and they're at critical status. I'd like to help preserve the breed.

Flowers, lots of flowers and some herbs. I did tomatoes last year and they did well, but the kids and I just didn't eat them and they went bad pretty quickly.
