Being ill forced me to bed earlier (11pm) than usual (1am) last night. Today is first morning in ages when I get up before kids....not expecting it to last since baby has mum radar....

But it meant no washing load and dishes weren't put away and no evening preparations.

Kids' bedtimes (esp DS1) are a torture that last all evening often requiring two adults. Then either quality sleep or housework to choose from.

I was poked over here to share my meal plan chart... it looks like this

(Spoiled because it's a supa big pic. And no judgies about our meals. )



I took and old picture frame, spray painted it and added scrapbooking paper as the background. I drew the chart lines and category names straight on the paper. The glass acts as a dry erase board, so when I am meal planning all I have to do is erase last week and fill out the chart.

It's hung on the wall by my fridge so it's very visible, and it's not ugly like a regular white board.

Love it Lindsay!! I do my meal plan right on my grocery list, so it's usually just a crumpled scrap of paper clipped to my fridge. I'm going to make one of these this weekend!

I need to get a few things done today/this weekend to help me get back into the groove. I forgot to run the dishwasher last night so I have clean dishes sitting in it right now. I don't like the way that misstep throws off my day.

I keep a meal plan in my home journal. It helps me so much when it's 4 o'clock and I can't think straight anymore.

I didn't do too great on 10 things today. We got to bed late, so I slept in. Then I was out all day, came home threw a yummy supper together, went back out, came home and did bed time and now here I sit...There are 4 loads of laundry to be folded. Weekends are hard, and the first part of this week was nutso!

I feel like I'm slowly getting back on track after DH was out of town and having company. I did laundry yesterday and put it away, but I need to get a couple of loads going today.
I think "Getting up early" may be put on the very back burner for me while I have a kid(s) that wakes up at night to nurse. All of the sleep I get it precious right now. Once I'm past this season I'll reevaluate.

I did laundry, it felt weird to have an empty basket afterwards...didn't quite know what to do with myself (we've got several full baskets around that don't seem like they'll ever get folded and put away).

Baby P was miserable last night with his sinus drainage, so I got up and put him on my back in the Beco once, figured I'd make my salad to bring for lunch today while I was up. Due to our rough night going to bed early and waking up early was another major FAIL...I'm not sure how I can make either of those happen right now. This time last year though I HAD to do it because I was pregnant and exhausted

I am in - and I thought I had repyed earlier.

1. Wake up early - this is fairly easy for me, I am a morning person. I am trying to go walking in the morning before breakfast, which means getting up at 5:45.

2. Go to bed early - The goal is to hit the sheets by 10:30 at the latest, and is generally do able. Early Bird goes down at 6 when she doesn't nap, so I still have lots of time with out her.

3. Evening Preparations - I need to work on this specially for days we are doing stuff at Church

4. Meal planning - I meal plan by the week, I have tried to do longer but it doesn't go well for me. Growing up my mom meal planed by the month and was wonderful at it. She could write a book on it.

5. 1 load of laundry per day~ Start to finish - i do much better to do one across every day [sort all the dirty clothes from up stairs, fold what is in the dryer, move load over to dryer, pick load to wash, put folded cloths away]. That way I am still getting one done every day but I only have to treck down to the basement once (My down fall is forgetting to flip it in the middle of the day and this solves it.)

6. Dishes done each evening - I need to work on having them not only washed but dyed and put away , We don't have a dish washer.

7. 5 minute bathroom cleaning - this is the biggest change that I need to make happen.

8. Have a place for everything - i am slowly working towards this.

9. Have a bedtime routine of cleaning up - this has been half hearty done before and I need to do it consistently.

10. Don't say "yes" immediately to new requests - I am getting good at this one

I've started having the kids pickup before dinner and then the whole family works on nightly house cleaning after dinner. We're taking half an hour to wipe down the kitchen, sweep and vacuum floors, swish & swipe the bathrooms, and a few other things that should really be done daily.

It's freed up all the time that I used to spend on chasing the kids back to doing their chores. They now have more playtime and I can take that time to do laundry and cleaning stuff that's should be done weekly or monthly.

Dh has been put in charge of making something for breakfast before going to bed. Last night was muffins. I'm gathering recipes for him to choose from.

Oh man, do I need this. This second pregnancy has really taken a toll on how well I keep our house running. applause to you moms of many.

I rarely cook dinner anymore. I am so tired by 3, but one goal is to start a crock pot in the morning when I have energy.

I usually do one load of wash a day, diapers every other. (but Tuesdays are always wash days, and it works out okay)

anyways, thanks for the thread. I would like to quit whining and really get back on track.
