Upcycling ideas?
Hey all. I have a 55 gallon aquarium stand that DH spent ages refinishing and putting cool hardware on. I really love it, but I kept hearing a creaking sound near it and I started to get nervous that it might not be sturdy enough to hold 600+ lbs. I bought a new stand and moved it to a different part of the room only to figure out it's the window that it was in front of making that sound. Well, I do think that the new stand is slightly sturdier and I'm not about to move that stupid tank again and I don't want a second aquarium, so now I have a 55 gallon stand and nothing to do with it.
Can you think of any alternate use for an aquarium stand at all? I'm willing to do some DIY building within reason. Absolutely everything on Google has ideas for how to make a non-tank stand into a tank stand, nothing on how to make a tank stand into something else. Maybe it can't be done because of the dimensions, it's long and low. Any ideas? The stand when it was still doing its thing:

Re: Upcycling ideas?
We put ours in our entry way. The younger kids sit there while I put their shoes on, DH stores his bag on top of it, etc. It would be even better if I'd gone through the trouble of putting a cushioned fabric-covered top on it, but then I think it's probably a bit high to be used as a bench anyway.

Re: Upcycling ideas?
That is brilliant! I'm moving things around in the entryway now to do a mock-up and see how it works.

Re: Upcycling ideas?
I bought an iguana stand and refinished it to be a buffet in our kitchen. I changed the knobs and repainted it to coordinate with our room.
