Re: Cake
I just don't see how you could have the best cake ever and not have chocolate?
hmm.. my mom's sour cream coconut cake is really good (as in, it was our wedding cake) and it doesn't have chocolate. It's just white cake mix made according to directions. The icing is the great part. I don't know measurements ok... found it! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/coconut...e7=Home%20Page it is true that the longer it sits before you eat it the better it is, but we've never even made it three minutes much less three days. It's gone within three days. Last edited by MomtoJGJ; 04-17-2012 at 02:51 PM. |

Re: Cake
I should probably add that we don't eat a lot of processed foods I won't buy cake mix cause it offends my sensibilities.

Re: Cake
These Margarita cupcakes are delish... with or without the tequila.
We've used strawberry flavouring in the batter, too, to make strawberry margarita cupcakes. They are especially good with that icing. |

Re: Cake
Since cupcakes count, anything from here:
http://cupcakeblog.com/?page_id=83 I can personally vouch for: Hummingbird cupcakes with creamcheese frosting (although they're not terribly fancy, I'm not sure whether you want "tasty" or "impressive". Slightly different... ) Basil Cream and Mint Cream Filled Cupcakes with Raspberry Mousse Frosting (I tried the mint) Late Summer Peach, Blueberry, and Thyme Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting |

Re: Cake
Lemonade Cake with Lemon Creme Cheese Frosting
http://cookiesandcups.com/lemonade-c...eese-frosting/ Made this the other day. My extended family loved it. You would have to make a from scratch cake mix because this one calls for the boxed lemon mix. I also substituted real lemons instead of lemonade. 1 medium lemon for 1Tbsp Lemonade concentrate. |
