I bought a silicone muffin pan. I love it for muffins! It does not work well for popovers. They just don't puff up, so I use a metal muffin pan for popovers.

Thank you all for your replies. I just wanted to share what I decided on - I have bought a couple cast iron frying pans (surprisingly affordable at Marshalls), and I went with the Cuisinart Professional Series Stainless Steel for my pots. This line of cookware is 100% stainless steel (I contacted the company to be sure), and has a thick, heavy bonded base to ensure even cooking. So far, I like them a lot.
