How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
Was just pondering this since I know it's not like I am ever 100% "caught up" for over 1 day
Dh had to disconnect the washer & dryer to tear up carpet & lay laminate. I was "caught up" when he did this. So it just got me wondering.... |

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
IF everyone can find a weather and work appropiate outfit a clean set of undies and socks can sleep on sheets free of excessive cat hair or crumbs and shower or bath and have a clean towel and wash cloth them I consider laundry "caught up".

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
If I have gone two days without doing any laundry, I would consider myself to be behind. I do 2-3 loads of laundry most days.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
I don't consider myself behind until someone's out of clean underwear. I have a couple bigger laundry days each week, and then a load here and there as needed in the other days. I rarely get to the point where I feel behind; maybe if I've been sick for a few days, or if it's the holidays and I'm focusing on other things and suddenly one of the kids tells me they're out of something clean.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
Everyone in the house does their own laundry. If any one person has more than 1 load to do, I'd say someone was behind. But, we have a high capacity washer and dryer that would really take almost 2 weeks of someone's clothes to fill up.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
I can't get the basement door open without first moving a laundry pile that has long since overflowed the dirty clothes hamper that sits next to it.
No, wait--our sheets can stand up by themselves. No, wait--I have to do laundry or somebody in the house will be leaving it in pajamas. No, wait--I have to do laundry or somebody in the house will be leaving it half-naked. (Last time that happened? Last week. )

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
To me behind is any laundry waiting to be done. If there is a full load and it's not in the washer, I am behind. And that is always.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
For me, having three loads is behind as I can't do it in one day.

If there is more than a load waiting to be done.
If more than one catagory has a full load waiting to be washed. If I'm running out of clean xyz. |

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
Depends on my stage in life. It's had different definitions over the years.
Today, I'm in a great laundry stage. I run loads as soon as there are dirty clothes to be washed. That honestly, has not always been the case.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
I consider caught up on laundry to be when I have less than a load waiting in the hamper. Caught up on folding is another matter and happens once every couple weeks, maybe.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
.behind for me is both machines running, 2 clean loads in the basket, and 2 full hampers.
Caught up is nothing clean waiting, the machines running and nothing dirty in the hampers. Amazing is nothing in the machines and only one load waiting to be sorted.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
I never get behind on the laundry because everyone who lives here is responsible for their own laundry. If they don't have clean underwear it's not my fault.

Except I do mine and dh's and sometimes he runs out of underwear. That would be my definition of behind. Or when the basket in the laundry room (which holds sheets/towels/other random items) overflows and I can't close the door.

Re: How would YOU define "behind" on the laundry?
Behind in the laundry means there's a full load from one category waiting (parents, boys, girl, towels) or more than one clean load waiting to be folded and put away.
If I do one small laid a day and get it put away that same day,I'm doing really well. And my mom is probably visiting. |
