Food safety question - frozen ravioli
I pulled a huge bag of frozen ravioli out of the freezer last night, didn't end up cooking it, and apparently put it back in the fridge rather than the freezer. Can I cook it tonight? It's supposed to be kept frozen and cooked from frozen.

It'd be nice if you could pull me into town.

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
As long as it was refrigerated, food safety wise I think it would still be OK. You just might have to cook it for less time since it isn't frozen.

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
Honestly, the biggest problem might be that they stick to each other

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
Yeah, I know. I started thinking "duh, they should be fine to eat" but I'm more worried that they'll be mushy or gross in some way. I think I'll bake them in sauce...

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
I would do them up like pierogies - I boil them for literally two minutes and then fry them in the pan to give them a little bit of a crunch. The ravioli wouldn't be mushy if you did it this way. Definitely be sure to cook only a minute or two if you boil them.
OH - I just remembered that they're fresh, no longer frozen. I'd go straight to pan frying them instead. About 4-5 minutes on one side and then turn them over. Deep fried ravioli is a well-known appetizer in some restaurants here.

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
Since they were in the fridge I can't see any reason for concern.
Are they meat or cheese? Either way, i wouldn't be concerned, since meat is very safely thawed in the fridge. With cheese, I'd be even less concerned with since you're just dealing with noodles and cheese, neither of which really go bad even at room temperature.

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
I thinking baking them would be fine. If you did them up, how'd they turn out?

Re: Food safety question - frozen ravioli
Yes, coating with oil and baking should help.
