Ham in the crockpot
I would like to make a ham in the crockpot for Easter. DH got a boneless "carving ham" from Costco. It's not quite the right dimensions (too flat and wide) I think I would have to cut it. Is that a problem? I was thinking I would do brown sugar and pineapple juice to glaze it. Ok for the crock pot? I'm not a hugely successful crockpot cook but it sure would make my life easier getting to the Easter Day gathering on time and with my sanity fully intact. Advice appreciated.

Re: Ham in the crockpot
I've made Easter ham in the crockpot for several years now and I really like it. One year the ham stuck up so I couldn't put the lid on. I just wrapped really, really tightly several layers of aluminum foil to make the lid. I think the glaze sounds really yummy. I've only done fully cooked hams and reheated in the crockpot.

Re: Ham in the crockpot
This one says fully cooked, does that mean I shouldn't do the brown sugar and pineapple or just that it's ok if the lid doesn't fit all the way since I'm just hearing it?

Re: Ham in the crockpot
No, sorry, I wasn't very clear. I've only done fully cooked hams in the crockpot so I don't have much advice for uncooked hams. I've done glazes on mine in the crockpot so I think that should be fine, and I think if the ham doesn't fit quite, one would still need to provide a good cover, like aluminum foil, so that the crockpot would cook properly.

Re: Ham in the crockpot
It was ok. I think the oven would have been better. Hard to glaze in the crock pot, just ended up a pool of liquid at the bottom.

Re: Ham in the crockpot
I did ham in the crock as well, inspired by you all. It disintegrated a bit, but was tasty. I've never really cooked a ham before, so I have no comparison.

Re: Ham in the crockpot
My mom had us over & sent us home with some leftover ham. I found a pinterest recipe for crockpot ham & scalloped potatoes that was really good!
