Cleaning sink overflow

I have a feeling that this is the kind of thing I ought to know....but I don't

The overflow in the bathroom sink is a small hole that I can just about get a wipe into, but I can't clean it properly. What does come out is horrible black mould

The bath overflow is similar but brand new so currently clean, and I would like to keep it that way!

The kitchen sink overflow has a kind of cover on it with holes, a bit like a plug hole, so it's impossible to get to it or to really see what it's like in there. I'm guessing it's worse than the bathroom one though

. Please help me!

Something involving vinegar and baking soda?

I need to clean mine, actually.

I'm able to fit my cleaning toothbrush (the one reserved just for this kind of nasty job, kept far away from other toothbrushes!) into the holes in our bathroom sink overflow. If I couldn't I would look for a little brush like the ones that come with bottle cleaning brushes, for cleaning bottle nipples. A q-tip may fit, but it might not have enough cleaning power.

I might get a small toothbrush in the bathroom sink, but definitely not the others. I'll look for a smaller brush though. Do you put anything on it? It must be tricky to rinse

I spray my cleaner on the brush. If it doesn't rinse clean, swish it in water, then maybe the dishwasher if that doesn't work?

Thank you! Sorry, I meant the overflow must be tricky to rinse, though actually the brush might be too! Anyway, I'll give it a go

Tbh if it wasn't for the combination of ds's health issues and moving to a house where you can see right into one of them - and see that it's full of black mould - I'm not sure it would have occurred to me either!

Seriously, has never occurred to me or as to how I would do it. I think the tooth brush is the idea I will try for ours. On my list for the next week.
