Hopefully, they won't die
In the fall, I bought a fig tree. It has leaves on it but we had a frost and some of the leaves are looking not so good. I go out and tell it, "Please don't die."
Yesterday, I bought a wisteria plant. I'm going to plant it along the back fence today. I will go out and tell it, "Please don't die." I have to buy basil and get it planted. I will tell it, "Please don't die." Although last year, I actually kept my basil alive all summer long and I was shocked. I plan to buy rosemary, cilantro, and mint too. I planted a clove of garlic and it is actually growing. I tell them all, "Please don't die." In case you haven't figure it out yet, I have a brown thumb. But I keep trying.

Re: Hopefully, they won't die
Are you planting the mint in a pot or ground. If the ground are you counting in your brown thumb from keeping it from taking over?

Re: Hopefully, they won't die
I say that to my plants sometimes, too. I'll often plant waaaayyyyy more than I really should in the hopes that something, anything will make it. We had a spot in our yard where we kept planting trees. We called it the death zone. It took 3-4 try's to get one to stay.
If you live in a cold climate you might want to protect the fig. Ours is planted right next to the foundation so it says warmer. Often people will bend them over and bury the branches in mulch for the winter.

Re: Hopefully, they won't die
The wisteria is still alive even though I haven't planted it yet. Still trying to decide where to put it.
