I sorta spoke up
I was in a shuttle van with Ivy going to the airport with two older couples. They started off about how things are not like they used to be and one of them said there was nothing wrong with a switch. I could not contain myself and sternly said I strongly object to that. Her husband laughed and said you do, do you? I said in my best no nonsense tone that I do. I can manage an almost two year old, seven and five year old with out hitting them and know women with more kids that do the same. That ended the discussion. It also seemed to put an end to any further conversation. I wish I had agreed with her and said I use a switch several times a day to turn the lights on and off. But I was not that fast. But at least she knows that it is not safe to discuss hurting kids, right.

Re: I sorta spoke up
I had a conversation like that at work just the other day... it started the same, kids are disrespectful they need to spank in schools like they use to( I work in a school) they also talked about making their own kids cut down switches from trees, but everyone is scared to do that now days... and I said I disagree, I don't think there is ever a reason to hit your kids. Of coarse I also don't believe in time out, and unless my DD is hungry or tired which is my fault not hers, i think she is much better behaved than most of my friends kids who do use time out. I told them I heard it best on here that when our kids mess up we push them away and when we mess up God holds us closer! Shouldn't we show our kids the same grace and forgiveness and love?
---------- Post added at 10:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ---------- That also stopped the conversation... not sure if it was becaise they didnt want to argue or not but i hope it at least made them think

Re: I sorta spoke up
Yeah, killing a thread in real life is a bit awkward, but it means that you got the last word. So, just think,
