It's SO hard to cook while sick!

Praying for you!

We had tacos today for lunch after church. Along with raw veggies and dip.

I know! It's just morning sickness but nothing makes me want to be as far from food as possible as feeling sick does!

Tried a new recipe tonight from my sister. Made a basic cheesy roux sauce and combined it with cooked veggies and cooked rice. Kids liked it and I liked that since 2/4 of my kids are gluten free, rice is cheaper than gf pasta.

Morning sickness is SO hard! I remember a period of time when I was pregnant with my third that it was so bad that I had to call my dad over to my house to make peanut butter sandwiches for my toddlers for lunch because the simple smell of them made me horribly nauseous.

Can you assign your bigs to start being in charge of some of the meals? It's totally understandable to be unable to cook with that nauseousness... Plus if they learn they can benefit you greatly post partum! I'm a huge fan of kids learning to cook.

Barefoot Contessa Weeknight Bolognese - we had this and I really should make it more than 2-3 times a year because it's crazy good and easy to fix.

That's a very good idea! Actually, my eldest daughter, younger son, and youngest daughter have been hugely helpful! Anastasia made chicken pie tonight, and the two helped her out in the kitchen. I'm very proud of them

DH helps when he can, but he's very busy at the moment, and the other two children (although they're barely children anymore ) were out at the time, but they can all cook so we're thinking of making some kind of rota or plan for cooking.

I have actually recently started doing this although I don't keep on top of it as often as I should. But I need to get in the routine again. I assign all of my children to a dinner each week. They plan and prepare the meal mostly on their own, with some guidance by me (for the biggers) and help from me (for the littles).

I like that it not only gives them the skill of COOKING, but it also gives them the skill of meal planning -- making sure to include different parts (vegetables, etc) AND taking in to consideration the different dietary needs of our family.
