Soy free vegetarian burger?
Does anyone have a recipe? It doesn't have to be vegan. I'm just looking for a few meatless meals that don't have soy in them.

Maybe google Black Bean Burger or Lentil Burger recipes?
This one looks good to me: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Homemad...rs/Detail.aspx Ooh, or maybe this lentil one: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives...rs-recipe.html

Re: Soy free vegetarian burger?
The burgers I make all the time don't have ANY soy at all and they are my very favorites. I posted these in my Vegan Low-Fat Fun thread on the vegetarian recipe board
BURGERS! I found this recipe a few years ago and fell in love with it after modifying it a bit. So, I had lost it for a while and then was looking through my mom's recipes and FOUND her copy of it. So that's what we had tonight. 1-2 cups cooked brown rice 8 oz mushrooms 3/4 cup old fashioned oats handful of baby carrots 1/3 cup walnuts or almonds 2 TB flax meal 1/2 onion 1 TB garlic soy sauce or Liquid aminos to taste handful of spinach EVERYTHING goes into the food processor except for 1 cup of the rice and 1/4 cup of the oats. Process until it's kinda a paste with chunks (please ignore the connotations). Add small amounts of water if needed and scrape the sides a few times. Add the oats and rice and mix thoroughly and let sit for 10 minutes or more. I cook this on a med flame sprayed skillet, using a large cookie scoop to measure. Using your hands, pat down the stuff until it's a patty. You might have to just wet your hands slightly to keep it from sticking. Um, this is YUM! Jen D.

Re: Soy free vegetarian burger?
These are awesome!
http://www.cookusinterruptus.com/index.php?video_id=128 I also invented these and they are great too. I did 1 can of pinto beans 1 cup of cooked rice 1 cup of oats handful of flax meal 1/2 an onion, finely chopped 2 large or 3 small stalks of celery, finely chopped 2 large or 3 small carrot stickes, finely chopped several cloves of garlic, finely chopped cumin chili powder sea salt onion powder garlic powder braggs Put everything in your blender or food processor. You want it to be a thick paste. Adjust if it's too wet or too dry. Cook in 1/2 coconut oil 1/2 EVOO, 5 mins each side or until patty feels "firm" and easy to flip over without falling apart. Then cook for the same amount of time on the other side. Add avocado, tomato, sprouts, and lettuce to your burger bun and viola! |

Best burger you'll ever eat. Meat or otherwise. We make a double/triple batch and toss the extra's in the freezer for the nights we're in a hurry. |
