What secular high school chemistry do you like
I'm looking at Berean Builders chemistry, but it isn't secular. Other than that it looks perfect. My charter won't pay for religious curriculum- that's why I want secular.
My daughter wants a textbook and just a regular curriculum (none of this living book stuff- not for her). It needs to have lab work. It needs to be self-taught- ie I don't have to teach it- she reads the chapter and/or watches some videos, fills out a worksheet or does some written work or some calculations or whatever, and does a lab and I check it. My first choice would be there are videos AND a textbook to read as well as labs and a lab kit I can buy so I don't have to put resources together.

Re: What secular high school chemistry do you like
I joined a secular homeschooling forum for the same reason. I was looking for resources that were reimbursable. Most of the other members have younger kids, IIRC, and I didn't need much help in that area.
What I did at first, and it ended up not working for my DD, was to find a used high school textbook that had been used in an AP chemistry class. I wasn't planning on having her take the AP exam or anything, I just wanted there to be enough content in there to challenge her, if she wanted to take it that far. She didn't really like it. I found a separate lab workbook and that was also a flop. We ended up going with Monarch which I don't like as much but she likes it better than other options, so, whatever she's willing to do. Monarch does have a lab kit, so that part was super helpful. Have you looked at any of these? http://homeedsa.com/secular-homescho...ol-science/51/ This is still under development and right now she only has 1 semester. It is secular, though. https://gravitaspublications.com/pro...ool-chemistry/ |
